Kiera began her professional grooming journey in the summer of 2022, during a pivotal period of personal growth and career exploration. With a long-standing passion for animals and an interest in cosmetology, she quickly recognized grooming as the ideal intersection of both. She enrolled at Merryfield Grooming Academy in Oakland Park, Florida, where she discovered her calling and committed fully to developing her craft.
From the outset, Kiera was drawn to the artistry and independence that define the grooming industry. While in training, she immersed herself in hands-on experience, working as a bather in a boutique salon where she was exposed to a wide variety of breeds and grooming styles. This early experience allowed her to build a strong foundation in preparation work—an element she considers essential to achieving high-quality results—and to begin forming meaningful connections within the industry.
Throughout her career, Kiera has had the opportunity to learn from respected mentors, including a former GroomTeam USA competitor who played a key role in shaping her technical precision and discipline. Under this guidance, she developed a strong appreciation for structure, accuracy, and the importance of mastering foundational skills.
Artistically, Kiera has found her niche in creative grooming and Asian Fusion styling. She has pursued continued education through seminars and workshops, drawing inspiration from leading educators in the field. She is particularly passionate about scissoring, shaping, and creating balanced, expressive finishes. To further refine her eye for structure, she often incorporates sketching into her creative process.
Kiera began competing early in her career, earning a second-place placement with a Poodle in her first competition. This achievement reinforced her drive to grow within the competitive grooming space. While she continues to work toward top placements, she remains grounded in the process of learning, consistently seeking opportunities to improve and evolve.
Her professional experience includes working alongside talented teams in South Florida, where she further developed her skills in breed standards, terrier work, and advanced preparation techniques. These experiences strengthened her belief in the importance of returning to fundamentals while striving for excellence.
Creative grooming, including color work, has become a natural extension of Kiera’s artistic expression. Through ongoing education and collaboration, she has developed both confidence and responsibility in this area, and she values the opportunity to share inspiration within the grooming community.
Now approaching four years in the industry, Kiera takes pride in her growth and the path she continues to build. She views grooming as both a profession and a creative outlet—one that offers continuous opportunity for development. She is passionate about contributing positively to the industry, advancing her skills in both technical and creative grooming, and supporting others in their journeys.
With the support of her Standard Poodle, who serves as both muse and creative partner, Kiera continues to explore freestyle and Asian Fusion competition work while establishing her voice within the global grooming community.
