Yassani “Anii” Meza’s creative journey began long before she ever picked up a pair of grooming shears. A lifelong artist, her father always told her she would work for Disney one day—and that belief in her talent planted the seed for everything to come. As an immigrant in the U.S. facing limited access to formal education, she overcame personal loss and life’s curveballs to find her calling in an unexpected place: a groom shop, where she was handed a Chihuahua and asked to paint its nails. That small moment changed everything.
Anii fell in love with the grooming world and quickly picked up hands-on experience at the salon. But it wasn’t until she met her coworker Monica—who introduced her to the world of creative grooming—that she realized she could merge her two passions: art and animals. Creative grooming became her canvas, and dogs, her living, breathing works of art.
Through every challenge—including navigating toxic work environments, becoming a mother to three young children in two years, and launching her own business—Anii remained committed to her vision. With the encouragement of her husband, she opened Pretty Paws Furry Salon LLC, a bold, artistic space focused on bougie, over-the-top transformations and high-end canine styling. Their motto? Different is beautiful—and sparkle is welcome.
In January 2025, she made her competition debut at the Windy City Show, earning two Best First Timer ribbons, a milestone that only fueled her desire to grow further in the creative grooming industry. With an ever-expanding list of goals, Ani looks forward to attending more shows, sharpening her techniques, and continuing to inspire pet parents through imaginative styling and joyful expression.
As a proud member of the GCGA USA Chapter, Yassani Meza is dedicated to redefining the grooming experience—infusing it with heart, artistry, and a fearless pursuit of individuality.
