Groom of the Month – March 2026: Amber Messenger

A Dragon Worthy of Gold

March is often associated with shades of green thanks to St. Patrick's Day, and while there was no holiday theme for this month's competition, Amber Messenger's winning groom couldn't have been more perfectly timed. This vibrant masterpiece captured everyone's attention with its striking colour palette and incredible creativity.

At first glance, this groom looks like a miniature fire-breathing dragon brought to life. The vivid emerald and lime green coat forms the body of the mythical creature, while bold yellow accents brighten the face and chest, creating beautiful contrast. Running down the back is a row of sculpted orange "spines" that resemble fiery dragon scales or flames, adding movement and giving the entire groom a powerful, fantasy-inspired appearance.

What truly elevates this design is the remarkable texture. Each section of the body has been carefully sculpted into layered, scale-like panels, creating depth and dimension from every angle. Rather than relying on colour alone, Amber used expert clipping and scissoring techniques to build the illusion of overlapping dragon scales, transforming the dog's coat into a three-dimensional work of art. Every transition between colours is clean and intentional, allowing each feature to stand out while still flowing together seamlessly.

Creative grooming is about imagination paired with technical excellence, and this groom showcases both beautifully. It's playful, bold, and incredibly detailed, demonstrating not only artistic vision but also exceptional precision and craftsmanship.
